VISI 21

Wire EDM

VISI 21 incorporates many new Wire EDM features which are specifically focussed on the tooling requirements of our customers. In addition to the new functionality, the new AgieCharmilles HMI control is now fully supported.

New Strategies

Smart

The "Smart" operation is a new operation type that eliminates the need for the user to assign a specific 2 or 4 axis operation to a feature. The operation allows sharing of technology and parameters for mixed mode cutting on various feature types.
 
The "Smart" operation creates the simplest NC code by analysing the upper and lower contours of a feature and applying the most efficient toolpath. For example, if a 4 axis feature can be machined with 2 axis NC code then the Smart operation will intelligently decide this.
 

Move

The "Move" strategy was developed for customers to be able to create simple linear toolpath and collision avoidance movements. This new type of operation creates simple movements which are defined using profiles.  Important parameters such as wire threaded, wire cut and feed rate can be defined. 

AgieCharmilles with HMI Controls

AC CUT HMI - - With version 21, the new AgieCharmilles machines with HMI controllers are fully supported. The technology information is read from the AgieCharmilles EDM Expert software, which can now be integrated into VISI 21. Through the integration of VISI 21 and EDM Expert the user can now fully program the machine, including technology, in an offline environment.
 

Slug Retention

With version 21, the existing slug retention functionality has been expanded to five geometrical types. These retention types create a clamping effect around the punched part, retaining it within the cutting die.  This prevents the punched part "pulling" away with the punch and damaging the tooling.  The life and reliability of stamping tools can be greatly increased with the use of Slug Retention methods.

Sectors ACVISION

Sectors are now supported for the AC Vision control. A sector is created by picking two positions on the contour and defining parameters such as clearance, taper angle and corner type.  These can be dynamically modified and allows the user to influence the program efficiently.
